NetIDme has produced a short video to coincide with the 5th European Safer Internet Day. The video contains advice for parents worried about their children’s internet use. The video can be viewed on the ChatShield website

Safer Internet Day is taking place on 12 February 2008 with participants from almost 40 countries across the world. Safer Internet Day is a yearly event, organised by Insafe, the European internet safety network. There are a number of activities planned for the day with the aim of celebrating safer internet use and raising awareness of the online risks that the web can pose to children. In the UK, school children will be taking part by participating in the 2008 Blogathon along with 50 other countries.

The blogathon will be launched by Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, and will progress from New Zealand through Australia to Thailand and Korea then through the Middle East, Europe and South America and will end in USA and Canada. This year’s theme is ‘Life online is what YOU make of it’ and in the week following the blogathon, internet users can put questions to bloggers.
